Jacob Egan is an artist, songwriter, and producer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Born in New York and raised in London, Jacob has developed a unique musical style incorporating elements of classic and modern jazz, electronic, funk, and fusion, among others. With every new release, Jacob explores uncharted musical territory, and seeks out new ways to connect with other artists and listeners.
Jacob plays solo and in a wide variety of combos, with and without singers. He has released a few solo projects, and has been part of many recording projects and sessions, including at the world famous Record Plant in Sausalito.
Jacob currently plays weekly with the California Jazz Conservancy. He has performed at a wide variety of venues throughout the Bay Area, including The Fairmont Hotel - San Francisco, Marin Country Mart, The Sweetwater in Mill Valley, Marin Food Bank, Old Skool Cafe, Hopmonk Novato, Marin Tennis Club, SOMA Rotary Club in San Francisco, Big Rock Cafe, Marin Country Club, The Boardroom - Novato, Peacock Gap Golf Club, St Luke’s Church, My Thai Restaurant, San Rafael Farmer’s Market, Terra Linda Presbyterian Church, The Tamalpais, Unity of Marin, Bread & Roses Presents, and Bogie’s Too. He has also performed at The Ritz Carlton in Naples, Florida. He also played at the NAMM Show and works with Capsule Audio.
Jacob volunteers with Bread & Roses Presents, performing for various groups around Marin County over the past two years; Cedars of Marin in Ross, where he has played monthly concerts for several years; and Crescendo Connect, where he gives free piano lessons to those who can’t afford them. Jacob also teaches piano lessons privately, as well as through WOW Music Studios in Mill Valley.
Jacob has spent his summers studying at Interlochen Arts Academy, Berklee College of Music, UCLA, Fordham Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Stanford Jazz Institute. He has studied and played with contemporary artists such as Taylor Eigsti, Jarrett Cherner, Josh Lawrence, Willie Morris, Javier Santiago, Dan Wilson, and Dr Greg Johnson, and jazz giants Terell Stafford and George Cables.
